BABEL

Babel is a game-like application that allows surfing a 3D world populated with conversations created by other users, and read them

These conversations have an adventure game format: A Sentence can be followed by different options, each one of them has an answer that can be followed by different options, and so on... giving it a tree shape, so every time we choose to read a conversation we can follow a different branch

Babel uses an external tool called scriptmaker (a PC program) that allows creating users, writing conversations, and upload them on the internet, to be used by the mobile using Babel

WORLDTHE 3D WORLD

When Babel starts, it shows a 3D world in which we can interact with, by using the icons located at the top left corner of the screen:

*       Rotate the world

*       Zoom in/out the world

*       Select a conversation

rombos_selected     Show/Hides the portion of the accessible world

As soon as Babel starts, it searches on the internet for conversations, and display its location with the symbol point, so they can be selected and read them

searchSEARCHING FOR CONVERSATIONS

Babel uses an search engine to look for conversations created by users and upload them using the tool Scriptmaker. We can enter a word or group of words, and it will show the conversations that contains those words, so we can choose them and read them

eligiendo

Another way of searching for conversations is just by clicking on the iconpoint on the 3D world. This will show up a list of conversations that are in that location, allowing us to choose one, and start reading it.

LOG ON

logonFor those who have downloaded the tool scriptmaker, and have created a user there, there is the possibility of log on through Babel, using the same user and password

This is not compulsory. You can use Babel without log on, and just read the conversations that others have written, but then, your progress on the game will not be saved. See later on about how the game works

STATISTICS

statisticsThe statistics page shows you the progress that you and the rest of the users using Babel are doing.

There is a difference in this page depending whether you have successfully logged on or not.

Only the users that have an account created with the tool scriptmaker, will see their individual progress as well as a list of the people that are more active reading and being read by others

The anonymous users will see just this list

THE CONVERSATIONS

Anyone that has something funny / interesting / deep / curious / silly / ... to say, can do so by using scriptmaker, allowing Babel users to have something funny / interesting / deep / etc... to read

Following is a little sample of some conversations already uploaded for some people in different languages.

HOW THE GAME WORKS

Once you start using Babel, you can choose any conversation to start with.

From then on, you can only choose those ones that are contiguous to it.

You can always click/unclick on the icon rombos_selected, located on the top left corner of the screen, to see/hide the areas of the world that are accessible:

areasThe world is made up of rhombus, and every time we use a conversation, that part of the world become accessible, as well as their neighbours. In this screen, the portions in red are the areas in which we have used some conversations, and the ones in pink, are their neighbours. Any conversation in those areas can be read

Also, if someone else uses a conversation made by us (only for those who have an account), their area becomes also accessible for us. It will appear in purple.

SCRIPT MAKER

In order to create an account and upload conversations, there is a small application called scriptmaker, which can be downloaded from

www.jjym.co.uk/scriptmaker

All the explanations about how to use this application are in this page too, both in English and Spanish
